Professional Experience

Scott Berg is the Chief Executive Officer of ServiceMax. He is a veteran of the application software industry with a proven track-record of scaling companies into market leaders.

Scott joined the company as Vice President of Sales 10 years ago and was promoted numerous times into leadership positions responsible for the Engineering, Sales, Services, and Customer Success organizations. Prior to joining ServiceMax, Scott was at SuccessFactors as an original member of the team that formed SuccessFactors’ first industry vertical team focused on the healthcare market.

Prior to SuccessFactors, Scott served as VP of Business Development at Birst, a SaaS business intelligence solution. Scott also held a variety of senior management positions at Extensity Inc., including Business Development, Professional Services, Marketing, and Sales Development. After Extensity was acquired by Infor, Scott served as General Manager of Extensity's global Expense Management business where he drove R&D priorities and strategy for the product line's sales, marketing, and service offerings. He began his career in the Pharmaceutical industry with Eli Lilly and Cegedim Dendrite. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

  • What do you like to do outside of work?

    I enjoy riding motorcycles on the street and off road. On the weekends, I ride with my family in the Tahoe National Forest and every summer I ride with a group of friends to Stugis, SD for the annual rally.

  • Where in your background did you learn the most?

    ServiceMax. We took a founder-led company through growth in value from zero to a $1B acquisition by GE, took the company private with Silver Lake, and began a tremendous new chapter of growth.

  • What's been your biggest surprise during your time at ServiceMax?

    The market interest and opportunity to provide a complete field service solution for any size company. After-sales service is a pillar of most businesses, and yet it is a business challenge that most companies have not been able to address with technology, until ServiceMax.

  • If you had 20 seconds to tell a new client about why they should use ServiceMax, what would you say?

    All businesses are focusing more attention on how to maximize the lifetime revenue from their customers. This requires a comprehensive solution that delivers a 360-degree view of your customers from their initial interest in your products, through their purchases, and throughout their support and service history.
