ServiceMax Rolls Out New Partnerships, Integrations to Maximize Field Service Efficiency for Medical Device Manufacturers

New capabilities highlight platform’s potential to streamline regulatory and maintenance operations in medical field service

PLEASANTON, Calif., April 18, 2016 — ServiceMax, the leading provider of field service management solutions, today announced two new partnerships and integrations that streamline field service and compliance for medical device manufacturers. USDM Life Sciences and 123Compliance went live on the ServiceMax Marketplace so that ServiceMax customers can have a turnkey solution for end-to-end service in the highly regulated and mission critical medical market.

ServiceMax also unveiled updates to its own platform that will improve medical field service operations. The platform will support customer’s CAPA (Corrective And Preventative Action) systems by enabling service teams to capture machinery details, equipment symptoms, and if needed, can empower technicians to provide full debrief details on root cause and failure codes.

“It’s harder than ever to keep up with the changing regulatory landscape for medical device manufacturers,” said Blake Wolff, SVP of Services and Alliances at ServiceMax. “With these new additions to the ServiceMax Marketplace, delivering flawless field service while also managing compliance has become far simpler.”

The new partners specifically support medical field service operators in:

  • ServiceMax Validation Accelerator Pack (VAP):  USDM Life Sciences’ VAP for ServiceMax enables regulated medical device companies to quickly and cost effectively validate ServiceMax and Salesforce, and provides a best practice solution to maintain compliance in the Cloud.
  • UDI Compliance: The addition of USDM Life Sciences to the ServiceMax Marketplace makes meeting medical device regulations from the FDA simple. With the FDA’s UDI Regulation requiring that all devices be uniquely labeled and tracked, USDM’s UDI Connect provides on-demand access to all of the data attributes stored in the FDA’s Global UDI Database. UDI Connect includes a mobile scanning tool for reading and parsing UDI barcodes. UDI Connect integrates with ServiceMax’s installed product data to allow both internal and mobile users to instantly retrieve essential information about a medical device to support service, business process and patient safety.
  • Complaint Management: Cloud QMS systems manage the customer complaint life cycle in accordance with FDA regulations from intake through further investigation, root cause analysis and reporting to regulatory agencies.

“Providing simplified validation cloud solutions to medical device and life sciences organizations while reducing costs has always been central to our mission,” noted Kim Hutchings at USDM Life Sciences. "Teaming up with ServiceMax to provide field service technicians with a mobile solution for identifying and servicing devices, helps companies not only meet their compliance requirements, but increase efficiencies in their business."
